Progress Report — New Hosting Provider

Last weekend, I changed servers from the hosting one web hosting provider to another.  The former provider had changed some setting for their convenience that caused serious security risks to my websites and the sites I host for others.  I discovered in the last attacks that the crackers were able to delete my .htaccess files even behind high security passwords consisting of random 12 alpha, numeric and symbol combinations.

I cannot say for sure how they did this.  It is possible my sites have a security hole, but I don’t think so.  Regardless, when this company was approached about an earlier exploit proven to be within their control and out of mine, rather than offer to fix the problem they insisted I purchase a higher priced product that offered less resources.

On July 13, I signed on with another service and expected them to transfer my sites over that weekend.  Things did not go as smoothly as I had hoped, so the process took through Sunday, July 25 to complete.  Two sites created in Joomla are messed up a little and need to be looked at, but they are not my priority right now.

In first quarter of 2011, I plan to build the portal and start promoting the web hosting.  In the meantime, if you need inexpensive hosting, I can provide this service in either Washington State, or in Texas.  Just send me a message from the contact form on this site.

Today my task is to build at least one new website and begin drip-feeding the articles.
