Looking back at my past….

This morning I was thinking of something and somehow my mind wandered off to things I did when I was young. I used to be able to throw a knife at a sycamore ball and cut it in half, I once bounced the but of a knife off the head of a water moccasin and shot an arrow into the center of a bull’s eye where it pushed the previous shooters arrow out of the back of the target.

Sure, these are strange examples of accomplishments, but these and others all have something in common. It was practice. I spent time every day practicing these things. When I was in Junior and Senior High Schools, I used to go to the woods behind my house and practice shooting my rifle, shooting my arrows and throwing my knife. I didn’t really think I spent that much time doing it, but I spent a little time each week doing them. Over time I became good at it.

The same thing is happening now with my Internet marketing skills. Just a few weeks ago I tried my hand at writing articles. I received three different systems from three different Internet Marketers who tried to help me get started. One of the systems says to write 30 articles in one week. The others also required writing several articles per week, but not so many. I got all excited with my ‘can-do’ attitude and started working on one of the systems. I planned it out and started writing my first article. It looked so simple, just write a couple of hundred words and viola, an article in an hour or less. Hey, I thought, I might take two or three hours as I am a beginner at this. Four days later, I found myself with about 50 words to my first article and it sucked — really. I had spent over 20 hours and failed miserably.

Just a few days ago, I was crying in the ears of a few of the Internet marketers who are helpful to me that I did not understand, why can I write such long emails but not an article? I never got an answer. These were ‘natural born writers’, or so it appears (they had to have learned as well) so it was understandable. So I gave up on article writing and looked for a different approach.

I found three incomplete programs with different approaches that are compatible with each other and decided to merge them into one system. I started documenting what I am doing so I can share it with others. This morning I looked over my work and found I have completed three chapters in as many days. Not only that, but each chapter has one or two ‘articles’ worth publishing included in them.

Just as I did a little practice every day as a teenager and was able to perform the feats above, I am writing a little every day and honing my skills at article writing. Do you feel you are bogged down learning or doing Internet Marketing? Don’t be discouraged. Start documenting what you are learning every day. It might only be a paragraph a day summarizing what you read or learned, but in time, your mind will start to connect the dots and you will be on your way to success.

I will be posting some of my articles here to encourage you, especially for you who are trying to get started in your own Internet Business.
